Absolutely! We would love to order books for you. In-print titles arrive within 3-5 business days, out of print titles can take longer. Click here to make a request.

Fine Print: Orders of out of print, rare titles, and foregin language editions must be prepaid. We are not able to special order non-book items.

Do you gift wrap?

Yes! Just ask us and we’ll happily make it beautiful - for free!

Where are you located?

Compass Rose Books is located at 3 Main Street in the seaside town of Castine, Maine. We are a short walk from the town dock. Click here to see a map and get directions.

Do you ship?

Yes. We ship via USPS out of Castine, Maine. Minimum shipping charge is $5.

Fine Print: We are unable to ship artwork and perishable items such as flowers and handmade chocolate.

Do you deliver?

Yes. Between October and May we are happy to deliver orders to Castine, Orland, Penobscot, Blue Hill, Sedgwick and Brooksville.

May I exchange a book?

Yes. Bring your receipt within 30 days of purchase and you can make an exchange. Books must be in new condition.

What may I return?

Books may be returned within 30 days of purchase and accompanied with the original receipt. We’ll issue store credit that never expires. There are no returns on non-books items.

Do you buy and sell used books?

Yes, we curate and sell previously owned titles. Our selection process varies based on what we’re carrying and what’s of interest to our customers. Contact us to learn more about our selection process and to set-up a visit.
